Breakfast at hotel. Leave for visit the Sigiriya. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most dramatic, inspiring and beautiful historical locations in the world. A mythical past of feuding dynasties suits Sigiriya’s striking setting- it was built in 5th century AD by king, Kasyapa, as a fortress-palace. The palace complex at the foot of the rock still has the remains of four indoor swimming pools where the king’s 500 concubines bathed. The palace structure was built with complex water arteries in the walls that provided natural air conditioning in the hot climate. On the summit, reached with the help of metal staircases and ladders, you can see the remains of the palace walls, gardens and ponds. The mirror walls of the Sigiriya rock still retain the world-famous frescoes of the king’s concubines, who originated from all parts of the world. Make a village tour in a bullock cart, one of the oldest modes of transport which is still prevalent in certain parts of the island. Step off the cart to start a hike across the village through the paddy fields and through home gardens. At each step of your way you will be met with a genuine smile of the unpretentious villagers. Walk along the banks of the lake until you meet your next mode of transportation; a Canoe ride. Paddle through the lake on the home-made Canoe as you watch small exotic birds hopping from one aquatic plant to another. You will be invited to a cup of tea. Here you have the opportunity to experience the local cooking guided by a lady. Let yourself learn the traditional ways of cooking a delicious and an equally enticing Sri Lankan meal in clay pots over an open hearth. Enjoy Sri Lankan village lunch. Breakfast at hotel. Leave for Kandy. (Approx. Transfer time: 3 hours) En route in Matale visit a spice garden to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. Gardens are open to visitors, a delightful place to stroll in fragrant greenery and learn about nutmeg, pepper vines, clove trees and curry, cinnamon and the precious cardamom, a relative of ginger. It grows in the shade of high jungle trees and can only be harvested by hand. Enjoy a complementary foot massage in the Spice Garden. Check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kandy.
Make a sightseeing tour of Kandy. Visit the upper lake, oriental market place, a bazaar. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens, at Peradeniya, the largest of Sri Lanka’s botanical gardens displaying over 4 000 different species of plants and is regarded amongst the most superior in Asia. The focal points include the superb Orchid collection and a mighty avenue of Royal Palm Trees. In addition to a plethora of flowering plants, there is also an extensive collection of medicinal plants and spices which can be spotted on your meander across the gardens. Proceed to Bentota. (Approx. Transfer time: 3 hours 30mins.) En route make a visit to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage which was established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. Overnight stay at Hotel in Induruwa/Beruwala.
Breakfast at hotel. Make a boat safari in River Madu. Sail through tunnels of shady mangroves swaying alongside Madu River, hiding an ecological treasure to witness the tranquility of this bio-diversity hot spot which boasts of reptiles, mollusks and over 70 species of fresh water fish. Today the region, which is strong in observing rural folk life in the island does not only boast of cinnamon plantations in abundance, but also has a fine 'fish pedicure center', one of the most potent & latest rejuvenation techniques. Visit a Sea turtle hatchery. Return back to the hotel and unwind. Overnight stay at Hotel in Induruwa/Beruwala.
